Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind which most people experience at some moment in any day – whether “on autopilot” driving across town, daydreaming, brainstorming, or experiencing an Aha! burst of insight. We find the answers for ourselves, in a relaxed brainwave state, accessing the inherent creative intelligence of our minds. The individual's attention may be highly focused, with heightened suggestiveness, or diffused and relaxed, with anything going on around the room blocked temporarily (like the experience of hearing just that special someone's voice in a busy restaurant, or almost dozing off in a meeting). An EEG may show an increase of alpha and theta brainwaves. This can also be referred to as an interval of being in trance.

An interesting fact is that you cannot do something against your deeply patterned values, when in trance. The autopilot state of rote functioning based on repetition, established neural pathways, routine, and/or muscle memory, may become so firmly set that conscious steps to change the patterns are required. It is not necessary to close the eyes, or shift to an entirely internal focus, in order to enter a suggestive state of mind - as evidenced in Milton Erickson and Richard Bandler's (and numerous others) research. Hypnosis is a viable strategy for improved flexibility, to make those shifts, and establish new patterns.

Hypnosis, guided imagery, or a relaxed “mental movie” session is a technique frequently used by athletes (mental rehearsal before running a race, or to change the pros' golf swing), marketeers (influence and persuasion, and repetition through advertising), and counselors and therapists.

The Council of Hypnotist Examiners reports: “A wonderful quality of hypnosis is that you can be taught to use it alone, at will, and without complicated procedures. This fact makes many benefits readily available throughout your lifetime.”

Hypnosis works, and there is proof! Esther sees it work in her own life, as well as the lives of her clients. Watch for Hypnosis in the news – it was prominently featured by several American television talk show hosts in the past year, on the topics of stopping smoking and weight loss. It is proven effective, and may be most commonly known now as the effective way to make immediate shifts to freedom from nicotine and eating addictions - the freedom of being a non-smoker now, feeling fit and trim, leading a healthful lifestyle. The Buzz is about how well it works!
